After adopting Port Sheldon Natural Area, students at Careerline Tech Center were shocked to learn about the plight of Michigan's native turtle populations, many of which are in decline due to habitat destruction and black market trade. As part of their leadership project this year, students are working with Ottawa County Parks and Recreation to improve habitat for turtles, buy predator cages to protect turtle nests, and educate the public about our terrific turtles.
