For the last four years, Lisa has put everything she had on the table for the Afghans, Syrians, Iranians, and Iraqis who were forced to flee from their homes in search of safety and protection. Unflinching, Lisa has battled corrupt governments, red tape and even gangs to give them just that. Even when the Greek ministry took over her camp, she didn't quit - recognizing the desperation that would ensue if she simply walked away. So she started a Community Center down the street and fed and clothed and provided legal and health services to them from there. She did all of this with her whole heart because she loves them and because that's just who she is - a real life hero. SHE NEEDS OUR HELP But like most higher callings that fall from powers beyond our own, this work of the heart has come with both great blessings and great costs. As a result, Lisa has gladly sacrificed everything she had over these four years. But now, after all she has given, she needs our help. As some of you know, the Oinofyta Community Center is closing due to lack of funding. As donations have slowed down over these past months, the needs of the hundreds of refugees and pregnant and new moms have not. As a result, the Center has not been able to deliver needed services and fully meet their obligations, including rent, utility bills, and financial support for the team of refugee workers - and these have quickly added up. After all she has given to the refugees and to so many of us whose lives have been changed as we have walked through Lisa's portal into the refugee crisis, it's simply not right that she be saddled with the weight of these obligations.
