Michigan Awesome celebrates state pride and hometown love. One of our communities was recently devastated by unprecedented flooding when a pair of dams collapsed after record rainfall. Thousands of residents have evacuated, homes and businesses are overwhelmed by floodwaters and a State of Emergency has been declared. Definitely not awesome for a community that was already navigating the COVID-19 crisis, and looking forward to summertime in Michigan.
The Midland Area Community Foundation established the “Midland Flood Relief Fund” in response to ongoing community needs. Their mission is to provide for disaster relief in Midland County as determined by the Midland County long-term recovery group and the Midland County Emergency Manager.
