August 1, 2019, Bryleigh was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML). The following day, she had a bone marrow biopsy, a port placed, and a lumbar puncture to put chemo in her spinal fluid. On August 3rd, she began a very aggressive 10-day chemo treatment that completely wiped out her immune system leaving her vulnerable to infections and strained her kidneys significantly. After spending 23 days in the hospital rebuilding her immune system, she was finally able to go home for a few days only to return September 5th to start the whole chemo process again. This will be her life for at least 5 rounds of chemo.
